Long Term Care Insurance has been around in one form or another since the
early days of medicare. The original policies we saw when chronic health
care problems began to emerge bear little resemblance to today's policies.
Early Long Term Care policies were formulated on the medicare supplement
policy model. When we look at a modern Long Term Care insurance plan we
see they have adapted to fit the needs as people experience them and
covers a broad range of services including nursing home care, assisted
living facilities, care from family and friends and adult day care.
Long Term Care Insurance makes it possible for the owner to take charge
of their circumstances and opens the door to the broadest array of health
care options available. And maybe, most importantly it helps ease the
financial, physical and emotional challenges and responsibilities of care
giving by spouses, family and friends. We sincerely believe that people
who own long term care insurance protection do so because they care about
those who will be caring for them when the time comes that their health
changes.
Everyone is better served when appropriate quality health care is
received early and as often as needed. When we see people delaying care
decisions because of financial strains, settling for cheaper providers in
order to save money, and spouses or family struggling to provide care
they are not trained everyone involved is poorly served.
It is important to consider this valuable protection carefully. The best
way to make a wise decision is to talk with a Long Term Care planning
specialist who is both knowledgeable on all the issues and plans
available, but is also sensitive to your needs, desires and circumstances.
Look for someone who is educated, experienced and willing to provide you
with all the information you need to feel comfortable and assured with
the recommendations they provide.
